Groups for 4-6 Year-Olds

Is your child working on managing and expressing emotions? Join our Many Moods summer group!
Give your child the opportunity to explore their feelings through a combination of movement, music, and art. Many Moods helps kids to understand their emotions and learn appropriate strategies for self-expression and communication. Your child will increase their social-emotional skills in a play-based, small group setting facilitated by an Education Specialist.

  • Wednesdays from 9-10 am

Groups for 5-7 Year-Olds

Could your child benefit from extra practice with foundational math skills? Join our Fun with Numbers summer group!
This 6-week group will allow children to explore mathematics through a combination of games, movement and hands-on learning. This group will focus on building foundational math concepts such as numbers, shapes and patterns while considering each individual child’s skill level. Children will have the opportunity to expand their learning in a play-based, small group setting facilitated by an Education Specialist.

  • Thursdays from 9:30-10:30am

Could your child benefit from extra practice with foundational literacy skills? Join our Sounds & Stories summer group!
This group will allow children to explore emergent reading concepts through a combination of storytelling and dramatic play. This group will focus on building foundational literacy skills such as phonemic awareness, rhyming and concepts of print while considering each individual child’s skill level. Children will have the opportunity to expand their learning in a play-based, small group setting facilitated by an Education Specialist.

  • Thursdays from 8:30-9:30 am

Groups for 8-10 Year-Olds

Does your child have difficulty staying organized and getting school work done? Join our Systems for Success summer group!
This group will allow students to explore strategies to improve executive function skills. Students will focus on identifying personal strengths, setting goals and utilizing hands-on tools to increase organization and independence. Students will engage in lessons from a variety of executive function curriculums and acquire new skills as well as useful resources. Students will gather in a small group setting.

Groups for 9-13 Year-Olds

Does your 9-13 year-old struggle with major reading concepts that affect reading comprehension? Join our Reading Comprehension Boost summer group!
Higher-level thinking skills such as identifying theme and making inferences can be difficult concepts to master when it comes to reading comprehension. This group will allow children to practice difficult concepts to help boost those skills, as well as their confidence levels. Each week will focus on a specific reading skill where students will read high-interest texts and participate in interactive and engaging lessons to help solidify understanding. The group will culminate with an Online Jeopardy game recapping all skills worked on.  Students will work in a small-group setting.

Does your 9-12 year-old love to read and have a passion for theater? Join our Reader’s Theater summer group!
The magic and joy of live theater combined with exciting and creative ways to improve reading fluency will come alive during this group. Students in this group will have the opportunity to read, prepare for, and perform an actual short play. Activities will include rehearsing with tips on how to practice inflective expression, prop creation, and costume designing. The group will culminate with a performance for all parents of students involved. Come join us for this exciting experience!

Would your 10-12 year-old love to have fun while learning and practicing math at the same time? Join our Fun with Math Games summer group!
What better way to learn math than by playing games? Math does not have to be a struggle when you are having fun! During this group, students will play games that will help improve computational fluency and promote critical mathematical thinking. Students will engage in fun, interactive games, and they will not even need to be at the computer! These games can be transferred to the home and school environment as well so the learning and fun never stops! This fun and unique group is led by an Education Specialist.

  • Thursdays, 10:30-11:30 am
  • June 29, July 6, July 13, July 20, July 27, August 3

 

Groups start in June 2017.  Groups will take place at Aspire Kids Chicago in Albany Park located at 3235 W. Montrose Avenue (Montrose and Kedzie). There is free parking in our lot on the west side of the building. We hope to see you this summer!
